The CWC Classics program celebrates cinema’s rich history, bringing classic films back to the big screen for critical viewing and discussion. These events feature filmmakers, academics, and professionals who can contextualize the production and historical impact of the films. The series occasionally presents classic films in their original 16 or 35 mm formats. CWC Classics events celebrate the history and significance of cinema’s enduring legacy.

Our classics events promote vital dialogue on the history of cinema. Past events have included Nosferatu with director Werner Herzog; a special program of rarely seen Japanese paper films with curator Eric Faden and musicians Yoko Reikano Kimura and Hikaru Tamaki; What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? with professor Lucy Fischer; a 35mm presentation of Swoon with filmmaker Tom Kalin; The Birds with actress Tippi Hedren; and screenings of silent classics with live piano accompaniment by composer Michael Mortilla.
