Are you passionate about film and television? Do you want to build skills in public event production and theater management? Our student staff play a key role in supporting the work of the Carsey-Wolf Center and providing Pollock Theater patrons with a memorable moviegoing experience. From pre-event promotional work to on-site guest and box office services, student staff gain valuable experience while working in a stimulating environment that provides access to exciting film, compelling television, and leading industry professionals from around the globe. Our staff members use industry standard broadcast and production equipment to help create multi-camera recordings of our events for presentation on UCTV.

No previous media production experience is necessary and all student staff are provided with on-the-job production training. Applicants must have strong leadership and customer service skills, a desire to learn how to use media equipment, and a passion for film, television, and other forms of screen art. All student staff members are encouraged to engage actively with Carsey-Wolf Center programming and use their position as a learning experience.

Three positions are available involving different time commitments: Carsey-Wolf Student Staff, Carsey-Wolf Event Staff, and Sound and Audio Assistant.

Carsey-Wolf Student Staff work an average of 20 hours a week, carrying out office duties during the day and supporting weeknight and occasional weekend events at the Pollock Theater. These staff members support the daily operation of the Pollock Theater by opening and closing the theater, assisting professors with technology during Film and Media Studies classes, and helping to promote Carsey-Wolf Center programs and events. They also assist with guest services, event management, and multi-camera video production during evening Pollock Theater events approximately twice a week. Evening event hours are usually 4-10 PM, and occasional weekend matinee event hours are 12-5 PM.

Carsey-Wolf Event Staff work an average of 6-12 hours a week, supporting weeknight and occasionally weekend events at the Pollock Theater. Events take place approximately twice a week. Evening event hours are usually 4-10 PM, and occasional weekend matinee event hours are 12-5 PM. Duties will include event management assistance, guest relations, box office services, and multi-camera video production. This position does not have an office work component.

Sound and Audio Assistant: A new position this year, the Pollock Theater Sound and Audio Assistant will be a specially designated member of the Event Staff team focusing specifically on running our soundboard and mics during live events. The Sound and Audio Assistant will still be evolved in other Event Staff duties, and will have the same time commitment.
