After finding themselves suddenly out of work, longtime best friends Barb (Annie Mumolo) and Star (Kristen Wiig) decide to strike out on their own and leave their small Midwestern hometown for the very first time. On the advice of a friend, they book a trip to the lavish Vista Del Mar resort in pursuit of sun, sand, and new adventures. However, they soon get more than they bargained for when they both develop crushes on a mysterious hunk named Edgar (Jamie Dornan), lovelorn henchman to evil genius Sharon Fisherman (Wiig, in a dual role). Barb and Star soon find themselves entangled in Fisherman’s devious plot to take revenge on the beach-going denizens of Vista Del Mar.

For this first installment of our new series I Love This Film, the Carsey-Wolf Center welcomed screenwriter, showrunner, producer, actor, and comedian Gabe Liedman (Broad City, PEN15, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Big Mouth, Never Have I Ever). Liedman joined Tyler Morgenstern (Assistant Director, Carsey-Wolf Center) for a pre-screening discussion of the film.
