Tatum Davis

In fall 2025, I interned with On The Wave Productions, an environmental documentary company that has made several short films oriented around bringing awareness to the environment and the people that exist alongside our world. Since beginning my time at On The Wave, I’ve been introduced to the logistical sides of documentary filmmaking that I previously had little experience in. I do a variety of jobs such as editing, sorting through footage, and looking into grants to be able to fund the past and future projects and ensure they are at the highest quality of film we can produce. It’s been very interesting to learn from Harry, who has 50+ years of experience as well as Theo and Joey who act as my instructors for learning the ins and outs of pre-production, production, and post-production. My time there has greatly influenced me to continue in this field of work and seek to bring exposure to environmental issues and overall lack of knowledge many have about the ecosystems we live in.

Receiving the scholarship from the Carsey-Wolf Center upon beginning my internship has helped me in being able to fully pursue my interests. The scholarship I was awarded allowed me to be able to focus on the work I’m doing without the added financial stress that often comes with interning. I’m very grateful to have been given this opportunity to explore the career I hope to continue in for the rest of my life. It has brought me invaluable experience before graduating from school and furthered my love for the art of documentary filmmaking.
