My internship with Accolade Publicity and Consulting gave me a first hand point of view into the world of film and television publicity. Throughout my time at UC Santa Barbara I was an intern with the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and interned directly in the PR department. This is where I met the Accolade Publicity and Consulting team and then later got the opportunity to become their intern. I worked on a variety of tasks during my time supporting the team including monitoring interviews, recapping events, managing the calendar, verbal and written communication, travel itineraries and much more. I got to help work on publicity initiatives for Emmy FYC campaigns, individual films and variating talent. I truly got a 360 view of the various tasks and sides to film and television publicity and it has highlighted that I believe that my future career lies in film and television publicity.

One of my favorite things that I got the opportunity to participate in was in person Emmy FYC initiatives and events. I helped support the publicity team at industry panels and helped with talent relations and recapping the events. This gave me the opportunity to listen and learn from media professionals while being at work and it truly is some of the most exciting work that I have gotten to be a part of.

Attending these in person events and initiatives whilst working in publicity would not have been made possible without the support of relocation through the Carsey-Wolf Scholarship. Besides the amazing work that I got to do through my internship, relocating through the help of the scholarship allowed me to network and meet other newcoming students to the entertainment industry, and connect and coffee chat in person with other media professionals. I also was able to attend in person events that increased my knowledge and network at studios across the entertainment industry.
