This summer I got the opportunity to intern at NBCUniversal. My internship spanned across three different teams within Franchise Strategy, so I was working with Illumination, DreamWorks, and Live Action film and television. My role focused on all areas of marketing including consumer products, games, experiences, digital, live entertainment, and theme park integrations. Since this was such a big summer for Universal with the release of films like Jurassic World Dominion, Minions: The Rise of Gru, and NOPE, I was able to directly support their releases and gain invaluable marketing experience from my department.

Some of my other work included brainstorming and executing marketing campaigns for properties including Chucky, The Umbrella Academy, and Trolls. Additionally, I was able to analyze scripts of upcoming films to search for potential marketing points to use for consumer products. I also helped approve licenses in weekly meetings with Steven Spielberg’s production company, Amblin, for properties like Jurassic Park, E.T., Jaws, and Back to the Future.

One of my favorite parts of the internship was being able to experience the film industry in action by touring the Universal Studios backlot and visiting the Universal Studios theme park. I was extremely fortunate to be invited with my fellow interns to the premieres of NOPE and Easter Sunday, both of which were unforgettable experiences.
