The Carsey-Wolf Center is excited to announce that Uncanny Histories in Film and Media was released through Rutgers University Press on June 17, 2022. Edited by Patrice Petro, Dick Wolf Director of the Carsey-Wolf Center, the volume deploys the uncanny as a historical framework to study accounts of film and media, from cinematic movements to the overlooked legacies of critics and theorists. The essays in this collection broaden an understanding of the uncanny, focusing on the unfamiliar, the mysterious, and the strange, including subjects often eluded in media scholarship. Uncanny Histories in Film and Media features contributions from Peter Bloom, Alenda Chang, Maria Corrigan, Naomi DeCelles, Hannah Goodwin, Priya Jaikumar, Masha Salazkina, Ellen C. Scott, Jasmine Nadua Trice, and Cristina Venegas.
