Why Choose A Carsey-Wolf Center Media Intern?

The signature of communication and media studies at UCSB is the strong grounding in the liberal arts, social sciences, and sciences that our students gain even as they are pursuing careers in the creative and business aspects of media industries. These modes of inquiry and knowledge help our students make sense of the past, come to terms with the present, and shape the future. Courses in film, and television and creative writing and communication analysis offered across several academic majors teach the students both how to evaluate materials and tell stories in their own powerful voices. Studies in fields such as art history, communication, film and media studies, history, languages, political science, sociology, and the sciences provide our students a well-rounded understanding of the social and cultural forces that influence the media’s roles in society.

The Carsey-Wolf Center selects the best from among UC Santa Barbara’s most motivated students for our Media Internship Program. Students apply for the program in a competitive process. The top candidates are interviewed by Carsey-Wolf Center faculty and staff before being selected to participate. We then match our selected interns with host organizations whose needs are a good fit for the students’ skills and interests. Our interns are highly motivated, reliable, quick learners, and are grateful for the opportunity to gain an inside view of media careers and industries through their internships.
