The Carsey-Wolf Center’s Internship Scholarship Program provides current UCSB undergraduate students with funding to pursue internships in media industries in and around Los Angeles. Up to $2500 in funding is available during the summer or the academic year to help defray the costs of transportation and living expenses. This highly competitive program is designed to provide talented and motivated students with financial assistance in exploring careers in media.

Deadlines

Fall 2023: applications due by August 15, 2023

Winter 2024: applications due November 15, 2023

Spring 2024: applications due February 15, 2024

Summer 2024: applications due May 15, 2024

Application procedure

Applicants should complete this form online and submit the following materials by the deadlines listed above:

  • a letter from your prospective employer describing the nature of the position and the proposed hours of the internship
  • a letter of intent describing your internship and its value for your career goals
  • a resume
  • an unofficial transcript
  • a letter of recommendation from a UCSB faculty member (may be emailed directly to Emily Zinn at the faculty member’s discretion or submitted with the application)

Applicants will be interviewed and applications adjudicated by members of the Carsey-Wolf Center staff.  Recipients will be featured on the Carsey-Wolf Center website, and will be required to submit a final report detailing their internship experience. Funds will be deposited directly into scholarship recipients’ BARC accounts. Recipients should consult with the financial aid office to determine any potential impacts on their aid packages before funds are deposited.
