Several capstone environmental media programs are offered at UC Santa Barbara for both undergraduate and graduate students. GreenScreen and the Blue Horizons Summer Program for Environmental Media offer cross-disciplinary education in digital video production and environmental storytelling. As well, courses relevant to environmental media issues are offered across campus. Classes at UCSB integrate the study of the socio-ecological dimensions of environmental science with subjects such as communication, computer science, literature, media theory, media production, and writing. The Department of Film and Media Studies offers core courses on media and the environment. A joint initiative linking the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management and the Carsey-Wolf Center, students pursuing any of the seven specializations offered at the Bren School may add the Strategic Environmental Communication and Media focus to supplement their training.
